A little over 2 years ago, a gentlemen and I met on Facebook and started discussing home ownership. A father and well respected man who had never owned a home was wanting to work towards making a dream come true. We met for beers and ended up chatting for close to 2 hours having a great time.
For the next 2 years, he did everything he could to be able to get him and his children the perfect home. The day came when he called me and said, "Zeller!!! (because that's his special way of saying hello :)) It's time! My lease is going to be up. Let's do this!"
Music to my ears...
He found a home in the portal and without even seeing it in person, he reached out and said, "I found the one. It's the house. I want it." At this time, I told him to reach out to his lender and see the possibilities. Sad news, the lender couldn't loan him the amount he needed to offer. Well...I NEVER take "no" as an answer, so, I referred him to another lender to see if they could do better.
Abracadabra! Bam! He was approved! We put in an offer that day and landed Under Contract!!!!
Closing Day was not the best moment. Unfortunately, the lender (not company) did not fully disclose and help my client understand the full details. He was expecting cash at closing and didn't find out until after the fact, that wasn't happening. He was furious and it was the 1st time I had ever had a client not super excited to be buying his 1st home. I couldn't stand for that. No way!
To consider me an agent that stands up for my client is an understatement. Whether closing is over or not, I have and will always be my clients agent and have their back. I was furious with this lender and I wasn't going to tolerate what happened without a fight. I went above his head, complained to the owner of the company, sent written documentation to prove negligence and landed my client with the $$$ he should have had at closing by getting the owner of the mortgage company to agree to pay him out of pocket for the loss.
Music to both of our ears! He deserved it and I was happy to help it happen! He was now VERY excited about his purchase and I could finally feel good about the commission I made :)
The deal was done and all that was left was a bit of a wait for the Seller's to move out. Moving Day...I was very honored that he invited me and my family over the day he moved in to celebrate together with a couple of beers while he gave my husband a tour. Such a great day!
Being an agent isn't just about buying and selling homes for people. At least not for me it isn't. Working with 1st Time Home Buyers is my main true love because I not only get to help them buy a home, I get to help them start a dream and begin a longterm investment. It's a magical moment to buy your 1st place and to be part of that over and over again...well...life can't get much better than that.
After all that is said and done...this is what my client had to say about working with me. Kindest words anyone has ever said and whenever the job is getting me down, I will look back on these words to be reminded of why I do this.
"Jen is a real pleasure to work with. She has a great work ethic and stands behind her clients to make sure she delivers above and beyond expectations.
